‘’Bugünlerde eve getirebileceğin bir anı eşyan var mı? Çekmecende kalmıştır belki, ya da uzun süredir giymediğin bir kot pantolonun cebinde. Kitaplığın arkasına düşmüş olabilir ya da belki annen, senin için onu İzmir’den kargolar. İşlevi yoktur, belki de hiç işlev kazanmadı. Evet, o eşyanı da alıp çaya gelir misin?’’

Bilge Abur evine sadece arkadaşlarını davet etmiyor; yoldaş belledikleri bir objeyi de onlarla birlikte misafir ediyor. Hayatından ve evinden geçen insanları, estetik ve maddi kaygılardan bağımsız, bir sebepten bağlandıkları bu özel objelerle birlikte resmediyor. Kuru boya resimlerden oluşan portre serisi, eski anıları akla getirdiği gibi bazen ortaya çıkıp bazen kaybolan bir dostun varlığını da anımsatıyor. Böylece kişiye mahsus bir anı, kolektif belleğin bir parçasına dönüşüyor.

“Do you have a memory item that you can bring home these days? It might be in your drawer, or perhaps in the pocket of a pair of jeans you haven't worn in a long time. It may have fallen behind your bookshelf, or maybe your mother will ship it to you from Izmir. It has no function, perhaps it never gained any function. Yes, will you also take that item and come for tea?”

Bilge Abur is not only inviting her friends to her home; she is also hosting an object they consider a comrade along with them. She depicts the people passing through her life and home, independent of aesthetic and material concerns, with these special objects they are connected to for some reason. The series consisting of colored pencil portraits reminds one of old memories and also evokes the presence of a friend who sometimes appears and sometimes disappears. Thus, a personal memory transforms into a part of the collective memory.
